Genuine Love!

This was the first story I ever wrote. It was pretty good for a 14 year old.

Genuine Love
Inspired by the Lord
By Laura Hines

If a criminal asked you what Jesus was like, and why He died on the cross, how would you answer?
Would you take him to the Bible, a book we Christians understand, but he, as a sinner doesn’t? How would you describe Jesus’ love to him? Here is how I would do it!
         -----------------------------------------------------

There was once a man who was a criminal, who stole
and murdered. He hadn’t been caught, but was very closely hunted for.
This man has a friend. We’ll call him Joshua. Now Joshua has been telling this criminal that what he was doing was wrong, and tries to get him to stop. But the man doesn’t listen.
Eventually, this man is caught, tried, and proven guilty. He was condemned to the electric chair.
Suddenly, his heart starts talking,”Now is the excepted time, now is the time to repent! But he pushes aside the thought, thinking he’s doomed.
As he is being led up to the chair, he looks into the sea of faces. He sees contempt, “serves-you-right” faces, and “too-bad” faces.
Then, out of it all, he sees the face of his old friend, Josh, standing there, his head bowed as if in prayer. The man begins to cry. He realizes how he has ignored his friend’s counsel, and now here he is, about to die without hope of ever seeing his friend again.
Just before they strap him into the chair, a voice pipes out, ”Wait”.  The magistrate turns to see a young man run toward him.  The criminal looks. It’s Josh! They wait.  Josh speaks, ”My friend is not ready to die, but I am.  Let me take his sentence”, and with that, Josh lifts off the heavy burden of guilt.
Just before they kill Josh, he asks permission to speak.  The magistrate consents.
He says,”Joe, I love you, that is why I’m taking your punishment. I want you to meet me there, in heaven.  Joe, go to Jesus, He’s the one who saves you.  God told me to die today.  God bless you!”

And with that said, Joshua dies, and goes to Jesus.
              ----------------------------------------------

Joe, the criminal, repents and turns to Jesus. He later
dies in a fatal car accident.

Let’s imagine a moment, what Jesus may be saying to us?
“Josh is my example of genuine love.  I did the same thing.  My Father had the plan since the beginning of time. Because of His love, and Mine We chose this, that I would die for you. I  was ready to die, but you weren’t. So, I did so out of love.
                                Perfect love casts out fear!
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Greater love has no man than this; than a man lay down His life for His friends.J
